Peter Stathas Dance returns to southeastern WI for
THE BARN PROJECT 5
June 12, 2026 | 6:00pm-7:30pm
The Sugar Creek Barn
5908 Pierce Rd, Elkhorn WI, 53121
On June 12, audiences are invited for an intimate, one-night-only experience. With seating for just 50 people, the performance includes informal showings by Peter Stathas Dance alongside students from Danceworks Milwaukee’s Summer Intensive, followed by conversation and a chance to connect with the artists. It is a rare opportunity to experience high-caliber dance up close in a setting that feels more like a gathering than a performance.
“There’s something powerful about taking artists out of New York and placing them in a quiet Wisconsin barn together for a week. The work changes. The conversations change. Through our partnership with Danceworks, we’re also able to share that process directly with young dancers and the local community in a really meaningful way.”
-Peter Stathas
This year’s work centers on the idea of “home” and the often complicated act of “coming home.” Through new contemporary dance pieces set to music by David Byrne, Roberta Flack, and John Prine, the company explores themes of belonging, vulnerability, memory, and connection. Rather than presenting polished final works, audiences will experience pieces as part of an active and unfolding creative process.
The public performance takes place Friday, June 12 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Sugar Creek Barn, 5907 Pierce Rd. in Elkhorn. Seating is limited to 50 attendees, creating an intentionally intimate atmosphere that includes artist conversation and audience interaction following the performance.
