LEGACY & REINVENTION
Open Rehearsal
NOVEMBER 6 | 5PM – 7PM
BARYSHNIKOV ARTS CENTER
450 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018
Peter Stathas Dance invites the NYC community to a free open rehearsal of Legacy & Reinvention to experience behind-the-scenes reconstructions in progress as choreographer Peter Stathas and guest artist Marta Renzi revisit and reimagine dances first created in 1983.
The evening offers a unique opportunity to witness the past and present collide as two landmark works are reconstructed and reinvented for today’s audiences.
What you will see:
What Practice Makes – Marta Renzi
A quartet that was choreographed in 1983, with Marta’s own “Project Company.” Renzi is looking forward to reconstructing it with the talented dancers of PSD – and hoping to make few revisions with the benefit of 40 years experience. Original Cast: Peter Stathas, Marta Renzi, Teresa Dugan and Melissa Matson
Trio– Peter Stathas
“Why am I looking so far back into my dancing history, risking a show of old work? It helps me understand my current circumstances and lends a different view of who I am, personally and artistically. Seeing who I was 50 years ago reminds me why I decided to become a dancer as I now create with the next generation.”
