THE BARN PROJECT 4

Legacy & Reinvention – Open Rehearsal

JUNE 18 | 6PM – 8PM

THE SUGAR CREEK BARN

5907 Pierce Rd, Elkhorn, WI 53121

The Barn Project is an annual residency held at The Sugar Creek Barn in Elkhorn, WI that serves as an opportunity to reconnect, rediscover, and re-engage with one another and unleash our artistry and creativity. This year, that will happen in the form of reconstructing two dance works that premiered in 1983 by choreographers Marta Renzi and Peter Stathas.

What Practice Makes –  Marta Renzi

A quartet that was choreographed in 1983, with Marta’s own “Project Company.” Renzi is looking forward to reconstructing it with the talented dancers of PSD – and hoping to make few revisions with the benefit of 40 years experience. Original Cast: Peter Stathas, Marta Renzi, Teresa Dugan and Melissa Matson

Trio– Peter Stathas
A trio that explores familial relationships, investigating the athleticism and humanity that defines Peter’s work, commissioned by the Boston Dance Project in 1983. Original Cast: Peter Stathas, Gerri Houlihan, Susan Rose
Bringing back fond memories of dancing and creating in Peter’s heyday, these two works represent the full bodied, risky and robust movement experiences Peter strives to carry forward into today’s dance landscape.

Don’t miss witnessing history being brought into the present- join us for a first sneak peek into these reconstruction processes!

WORKSHOP SERIES: SESSION TWO

JUNE 21 | 2PM – 6PM

GIBNEY 890, STUDIO 5-2

SLIDING SCALE: $40 – $75

Join us for the 2nd of 4 sessions of our NYC WORKSHOP SERIES!

In this session we will examine the internal architecture of the body.  The components of this architecture include our anatomy, both musculoskeletal as well as visceral circulatory nervous respiratory and integumentary systems. How can we observe, appreciate and activate our internal architecture and engage with it creatively? How do we then find ways to infuse it into our external architecture of the space around us?

This workshop series gives each participant a very intimate look into some of the ways PSD creates and expands work beyond usual forms. Come explore and play with us!

*With a sliding scale of $40-$75, we aim to offer an accessible and incubative experience for the NYC dance community. If funds are a hindrance to participation, please email debrasha@peterstathasdance.com
